Sound Therapy

When sound penetrates our body tissues, every molecule within the region of the body being treated shares in the sound data, including our membrane proteins and even the DNA within our cells.

As a child, I grew up in a musical family and could often be found singing, dancing or playing an instrument. We had a rule in my house, "No singing at the dinner table." which was necessary, because the music lived within me.

Although I have always had music in my life, I did not initially pursue sound healing or sound therapy, it pursued me. In the midsts of a career shift while simultaneously completing a post graduate Masters certification in educational leadership, I felt called to pursue sound healing. I had always felt lead to a lifestyle of healing - through listening, talking or simply being present. Studying sound healing has allowed me to merge two important aspects of my life into one and explore new avenues. I earned my certification through Life Changing Energy under the instruction of Vickie Gould who changed the trajectory of her life using sound healing.

Singing bowls began their journey in ancient times. It is believed that singing bowls were an integral part of Buddhism. Now, sound therapy has traveled across many religions and cultures throughout history. Sound has always played an important role in supporting the body, mind and spirit in well-being. Our ancestors knew that sound and vibration could be used to balance and heal the energy centers in our body and support us in optimal health. They didn’t need fancy equipment and science to prove it, the proof for them was in how they felt after sound therapy. Crystal singing bowls combine the energy of quartz and sound. Our bodies have a similarity to quartz. On a molecular level, our cells contains silica, which balances our electromagnetic energies. Crystal generates and magnifies the transmission of tones. When the sound changes the brainwaves, you go into a meditative state, even an altered state of consciousness. This can cause the brain to release different hormones and neuro-chemicals too.

Why Sound Healing?

Today’s modern microwave electromagnetic signals have been shown to have potentially adverse effects on our cells and tissues. The background microwave radiation in our environment from wireless communication is especially high in our cities. Today this background radiation is nearly a million times higher than it was just thirty years ago before the advent of cell phones, cordless phones, WiFi, and wireless smart meters. These technologies use pulsing electromagnetic fields that can negatively affect the nervous system and the brain.

Sound can be used as a vehicle to take you into a deep state of relaxation and even into meditative states. Sound waves can penetrate deeply and affect the body at a cellular level. If stress was an issue prior to the session it may be reduced after. This  can be beneficial for conditions such as anxiety and depression which are often associated with high levels of stress. Some people have that emotional release, some people just feel tired or sleepy, some people may have nausea and may get or release headaches. Most commonly, people may go into a meditative state, and some of you might even doze off. Your blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration might slow down. You may feel a warm or tingling sensation in different areas of your body.

The human body is wired to be exquisitely sensitive to sound. The faculty of hearing is one of the first senses to develop in utero and the last to depart before death. In addition to perceiving sound through our ears, we also “hear” the pressure waves of sound through our skin, and the water that makes up approximately 70 percent of us conducts sound four to five times faster than air.
